Our academic journey continued as we pursued a doctorate in Climate-Responsive Design Architecture, which became the foundation of our specialized approach to designing spaces through detailed simulations on thermal comfort and daylighting. During the next few years, we had the privilege of teaching architecture at various colleges, where we discovered our passion for sharing knowledge and fostering creativity in students.
Around this time, we also had the opportunity to conduct a workshop on climate-responsive buildings, which turned out to be a pivotal moment in our careers. This workshop ignited a deep passion in us for sustainable and climate-conscious design, steering our focus toward climate-responsive architecture. While teaching and engaging with students, we were also working on several on-site construction projects. A key aspect of these projects was that many of our clients asked for designs based on Vasthu principles, which led us to explore this traditional system of architecture. Initially, we studied Vasthu out of necessity to meet our clients’ requests, but soon, our curiosity grew into a research interest.
This led us to conduct a comparative study between Vasthu and climate-responsive architecture. We experimented with combining the two principles in our projects, applying both modern sustainable design techniques and traditional architectural guidelines. To our surprise, these experiments resulted in spaces that not only adhered to the technical aspects of climate-responsive design but also felt more vibrant, balanced, and harmonious. The feedback from our clients was overwhelmingly positive, as the spaces seemed to bring a sense of happiness and well-being.
These experiences encouraged us to continue exploring the fusion of Vasthu and climate-responsive architecture. We have become more passionate about integrating these two philosophies into our practice, as they allow us to fulfill our clients’ desires while creating spaces that are not only functional but also uplifting and sustainable. This journey has deepened our commitment to designing buildings that enhance the quality of life and promote environmental responsibility. As doctorate holders in Climate-Responsive Design Architecture, we design spaces through detailed simulations on thermal comfort and daylighting, ensuring they are both environmentally conscious and uplifting.
